Our Mission
MAC·LA provides vibrant, inspiring experiences that foster social connections and drive economic progress.
Music, Arts, and Community · Los Angeles
Why We Exist
For eighteen summers, MAC·LA has turned MacArthur Park into a space where everyone belongs — no matter their race, culture, gender, age, or ability. In 2025, more than 27,000 people joined us in person and online to hear over 100 artists whose music reflected the heart of Los Angeles.
From cumbia to punk, Afrobeats to hip-hop, Cambodian rock to LA soul — MAC·LA proves how difference can create connection. And through every concert, every free lawn seat, we carry forward one simple belief:
Great music and shared cultural experiences are a right, not a privilege.
MAC·LA does not exist for the few. We exist for the many. And in music and the arts, we find each other.
90%+ of attendees report feeling safer in MacArthur Park during MAC·LA concerts — showing that art makes public space stronger when the whole community is invited in.
Our Vision
A Los Angeles where great music and shared cultural experiences are a right, not a privilege — where every neighborhood has a stage, and every community member has a seat on the lawn.
To create enriching, culturally driven experiences that foster belonging, amplify community initiatives, promote unity, and offer opportunities to engage with the creative economy in a dignified and sustainable manner.
MAC·LA Values
The principles that guideeverything we do
Rooted
Grounded in MacArthur Park, Westlake, and the communities we call home — not just visiting, but belonging.
Vibrant
Bold, alive, and culturally electric — from cumbia to punk, Afrobeats to hip-hop, every stage is a celebration.
Unifying
Difference creates connection here. MAC·LA brings together races, cultures, ages, and abilities — on one shared lawn.
Empowering
Opening doors for young people, artists, and communities too often left out of the creative economy — sustainably and with dignity.
MAC·LA Statement
“At MAC·LA, the stage belongs to the community.”
MAC·LA believes that art and culture connect us, break down walls, and bring people together. For eighteen summers, we’ve helped turn MacArthur Park into a space where everyone belongs — no matter their race, culture, gender, age, or ability.
In 2025, more than 27,000 people joined us in person and online to hear over 100 artists whose music reflected the heart of Los Angeles: bold, culturally diverse, and vibrant voices that deserve to be heard.
MAC·LA is more than concerts. We work alongside Central City Neighborhood Partners, Koreatown Youth + Community Center, Mujeres de la Tierra, LA Commons, and LA vs. Hate to make sure the stage is also a doorway to resources, care, and other spaces of belonging.
Over 90% of attendees told us they feel safer in MacArthur Park during our concerts — showing that art makes public space stronger when the whole community is invited in.
MAC·LA creates pathways for young people and communities that have been shut out of opportunity, helping them build skills, open new doors, and thrive. And beyond the stage, our board, staff, and partners reflect the city we serve, carrying forward the living mosaic that is Los Angeles.
Our mission is simple: uplift our city, celebrate its many cultures, and make live music and art free and accessible to all.
MAC·LA does not exist for the few. We exist for the many. And in music and the arts, we find each other.

COMMUNITY IMPACT
Meet MAC•LA
MAC·LA is more than a concert series. Since 2007, we have built a living proof that free, world-class cultural programming transforms public space — and the communities around it. MacArthur Park is safer, more welcoming, and more celebrated because of what happens on this lawn every summer.
Over 90% of our audience members report feeling safer in MacArthur Park during MAC·LA events. That stat isn’t just about security — it’s about belonging. It reflects a community that sees itself on stage and experiences public space as something shared rather than divided.
MAC·LA creates workforce pathways for the next generation of LA’s creative economy — producing, sound engineering, event management, marketing, and more.
